US College Students Needing TB Testing Now Have The Benefit Of QFT(TM)

Students attendance US
colleges that require tuberculosis (TB) testing volition now welfare from
interferon-gamma release assays (IGRA) such as QuantiFERON(R)-TB Gold
(QFT(TM)), with the release of update TB testing guidelines from the
American College Health Association (ACHA). In the past times, students would
have been tested with the tuberculin skin test (TST) which is known to
suffer from false-positive results due to cross-reactivity with BCG vaccine
and commonly encountered environmental non-tuberculous mycobacteria.
False-positive TST responses particularly infestation students from high TB
incidence countries as many of them are vaccinated with BCG at birth.
Reading a TST response is subjective and prominent discrepancies in
interpretation john occur between trained professionals. These limitations
of the TST tin now be overcome through use of QFT.

Studies have shown that QFT is more accurate than the TST as it is not
affected by BCG inoculation exposure to non-tuberculous mycobacterium.
Greater accuracy means universities have to spend less money and time
during the screening process. It streamlines the admission action and
provides easier test administration for both universities and students as
alone one medical consultation is required; results are objective and tin be
available within 24 hours. Most importantly, treatment is dispensed to
individuals truly septic with TB.

Each class US universities/colleges host about 500,000
international students. Many of these students come from high TB incidence
areas within Asia, Africa, Eastern Europe and Central and South America.
The ACHA guidelines build on those issued by the Centers for Disease
Control and Prevention (CDC) which country that QFT "can be used in all
circumstances in which the TST is presently used" The ACHA recommends
screening all incoming students, but particularly targeting those at
increased risk for TB, which includes students from countries with a high
incidence of TB disease (greater than or equal to 20 cases / C,000
population). These students should be tested for latent TB infection (with
either QFT or the TST), to reduce the risk of developing active TB disease.
Additionally the ACHA guidelines recommend that health profession students,
whether incoming or continuing, should be tested annually.

QFT is organism used by a ontogeny number of US colleges and universities
including the University of Tennessee Health Science Center which published
the number one report of a college TB control program utilizing QFT (Vesser et
al 2007). The report showed that QFT can be successfully enforced and is
well recognized as an addition to a campus-wide TB surveillance program.

About QuantiFERON(R)-TB Gold (QFT(TM)):

QFT -- a simple blood test -- is the first major advance in TB
diagnosis since the introduction of the tuberculin skin test (TST) over 100
days ago. The QFT test is based on mensuration of a cell-mediated immune
response in TB- infected individuals. The T-cells of these individuals are
hypersensitised to TB, and respond to stimulation with peptides simulating those
expressed by the TB causing bacteria, secreting a cytokine called
interferon-gamma. QFT accurately measures the interferon-gamma response in
a sensitive enzyme assay. QFT is unaffected by previous BCG vaccination and
most other mycobacteria. Unlike the TST, it requires only one patient
jaw, is a controlled research lab test, and provides an objective,
consistent result that is non subject to interpretation based on a
patient's congener risk factors for TB exposure.

Finally, A House John McCain Doesn't Own

Donald Trump is off the plume. Someone else has stepped up and is purchasing Ed McMahon's house.
Ed Mahon: Click to launch
Ed has been dogged by his L.A. mansion, which was sitting on the brink of foreclosure. Last week, Donald said he would help the man he admired by buying the property. Ed's realtor, Alex Davis, tells us Trump actually made a written offer but was outbid.

Ed's rep says the buyer surfaced last week, after Trump got all that publicity. We're told escrow opened yesterday but it's still not a done deal.

As for who's buying the house, the out-of-state buyer wants confidentiality. However, Ed's rep says it's not John McCain.

And we just got this statement from The Donald: "...The other buyer has signed a purchase agreement....subject to many contingencies including but not limited to a mortgage contingency. Mr. Trump clearly would not need a mortgage and would be capable of closing this transaction immediately. If the other buyer should be successful in this bid, Mr. Trump truly hopes that they do the right thing by Ed McMahon and not have this 85-year-old American icon removed from the property."

So here's the question -- If Donald really wants Ed to stay in the house, why didn't he just outbid the buyer?

Spector, 68, is illustrious for his "Wall of Sound" recording technique. A pretrial auditory sense is scheduled Thursday, with jury quizzical to begin Oct. 14. The first trial concluded in a jury deadlock.

The six encounters outlined by prosecutors span more than three decades.

Knightley happy to appear naked on-screen

Keira Knightley has said that she has no problem appearing naked on-screen, as she does in her current movie 'The Edge of Love'.
Speaking at a press conference at the Edinburgh International Film Festival to promote the John Maybury directed film, Knightley said: "I always bare my breasts. It's not like it's only in this film!"
The 23-year-old also appeared naked in her last film, 'Atonement'.Referring to a scene in 'The Edge of Love' alongside Irish star Cillian Murphy, Knightley said: "It was very simple. It was a sex scene and I never like them when they've got bras on."
The film was written by Sharman Macdonald, Knightley's mother, who says her actress daughter was the inspiration for writing the period romance that also stars Siennna Miller and Matthew Rhys.
Knightley says that she was more uncomfortable with the fact that she had to sing in the movie, rather than having to appear naked.
She said: "I wasn't particularly pleased that Shar put singing into the script - in the first couple of takes I sounded like a pubescent boy."
'The Edge of Love' is showing nationwide from today.

Televangelist Bynum Dumps Beatdown Bishop

The holy war –- the one between televangelist Juanita Bynum and her estranged bishop husband Thomas Weeks III – is finally over, with Bynum agreeing to divorce Weeks. Praise the Lawd!

It's almost a year since Weeks delivered an almighty beatdown to Bynum in the parking lot of an Atlanta hotel after the couple met to work out their issues. Weeks pleaded guilty back in March to aggravated assault, and was sentenced to probation and community service.

Despite his plea, Weeks is still asking for Bynum pay for his lawyer fees. The holy couple has been married since 2002.

Johnnifer Going Wild at Joe's

Jennifer Aniston is cycling John Mayer through her usual romantic treadmill, taking the rocker to Joe Francis' Mexican palace – just like she did with Vince Vaughn.

Vaughniston was memorably spotted at the "Girls Gone Wild" founder's Punta Mita pad, and now, reports People, it's Aniston and Mayer who are enjoying the porntrepreneur's hospitality. Of course, they were just spotted on a double date with Courteney Cox and David Arquette.

Next up -– the sunset ride down the Seine.

Vatican to Hanks – Thou Shalt Not Film

After "The Da Vinci Code" blasted the Catholic church, what were the chances of the prequel getting the church's blessing to shoot in Rome?

Not a snowball's chance in – you know. The diocese of Rome gave the big Catholic hell, no to producers for "Angels and Demons," saying that it would be "unacceptable to transform churches into film sets so that his blasphemous novels can be made into mendacious films."
